🚔Practicing Safety at St. Edward’s!
Today, we successfully completed our annual lockdown safety drill with the help of the Chillicothe Police Department.
Officers walked through our school and met with Mrs. Cusack to review our safety plans and procedures.
These yearly drills are an important way we practice being prepared and help keep our school a safe, happy, and welcoming place for our students and staff!

🐆 Jaguar Spirit & Blessings for Our Furry (and Not-So-Furry!) Friends! 🐾🐢
Our Fall Pep Rally brought plenty of Jaguar spirit, smiles, and school pride! 📣 A special shoutout to our Jaguar Dance Team for their wonderful performance! We love seeing our students share their talents, enthusiasm, and school spirit!
The fun continued outside with our Blessing of the Pets in honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi! 🐕🐈🐢 From dogs and cats to turtles, we enjoyed seeing some very special members of our school families. Thank you to Father Martin for blessing our animals and reminding us to appreciate and care for all of God’s creation.

🤠 October Blessed Buddy Day at St. Edward’s! 📿💙
What a beautiful morning! We began our day gathered outside as an entire school community to pray the Rosary together. The sense of peace across our school was truly something special. 🙏
In honor of October, the month of the Holy Rosary, our big kids and little kids partnered up with their Blessed Buddies to create a collaborative art project celebrating our Blessed Mother, Mary. There’s something so sweet about watching our older students guide, encourage, and build friendships with our littlest Jaguars!
And to top it all off? Country Western Dress-Up Day! 🤠🐎 If you know, you know! 😉

🌟 VIRTUE OF THE MONTH: INDUSTRIOUSNESS 🌟
Throughout October, our students are learning about the virtue of industriousness — diligence, especially in work that leads to natural and supernatural maturity.
But what does industriousness actually look and sound like in a school?
At St. Edward’s, it looks like…
📚 A student going back to fix a mistake instead of giving up.
✏️ A kindergartner carefully forming letters, one at a time.
🧠 A junior high student wrestling with a challenging problem.
🧹 A child noticing something that needs to be done—and helping without being asked.
📖 A student staying focused even when the work isn’t particularly exciting.
🤝 Classmates encouraging one another to keep going.
💛 Teachers patiently showing up, preparing, teaching, redirecting, and trying again.
And it sounds like…
“I’m going to try again.”
“Can you help me understand this?”
“I’m not finished yet.”
“I can do hard things.”
“What can I do to help?”
“I did my best.”
Industriousness reminds our students that good work doesn’t have to be perfect work. It means approaching the responsibilities God has given us with diligence, perseverance, and care.
These small, ordinary moments happen all day long at St. Edward’s—and little by little, they add up to something pretty awesome: children who are GROWING each day and serving God in lots of ways. 💙💛

A huge thank you to the Smith family for inviting our St. Edward’s families out to their farm yesterday for an afternoon of pumpkin picking and time together!
Opportunities like this are such a wonderful reminder that St. Edward’s is more than a school—it’s a community. Our students get to grow up alongside one another, and our families have the chance to build friendships and make memories together outside of the school day, too. 💙💛

We are 2 weeks away from our first annual Blood Drive in Honor of Ms. Elizabeth. Check out the flyer to register to donate. While we’re certainly proud of the win, we’re even more proud of the way these girls represented St. Edward’s throughout the season with courtesy, sportsmanship, teamwork, and JOY!

What a fun afternoon celebrating IVC Homecoming!
Our St. Edward’s Jaguars loved being part of the IVC Homecoming Parade! Our St. Edward’s Dance Team brought the Jaguar spirit with a great performance, while students and families joined in the fun passing out crowns & candy and cheering along the parade route. 🐆📣🍬
We are grateful to be part of the Chillicothe community and love opportunities like this that bring our schools, families, and small town together. And judging by those smiles, our Jaguars had a pretty great time, too!

We’ve been celebrating all week, and today was the BIG day! In anticipation of the beatification of Fulton J. Sheen, our Jaguars have spent the past several days learning, praying, creating, and celebrating together. 🙏 Each morning since last week, we gathered as a school to pray a Novena for Fulton Sheen’s canonization as part of our regular morning prayer circle. 📖 We learned about his life through Fulton Sheen and the Very Bad Week by Bonnie Engstrom. 💡 We tested our knowledge with Fulton Sheen trivia. 🌎 We learned about and prayed a World Mission Rosary—and each student received a World Mission Rosary of their own. 🎨 Students created beautiful artwork inspired by Sheen and his faith with lessons created from the amazing Katie Bogner. 📺 And today, we had the canonization broadcast playing throughout the building so our students could witness this historic moment! There is something so special about our children learning about a holy man whose story is so deeply connected to the place we call home. What a blessing to be part of the Diocese of Peoria at this moment in history! ✝️ May the life of Fulton Sheen remind our whole school community that holiness isn’t something far away—it is something each of us is called to, right here, right now. 💙💛
Sometimes the best learning happens when children simply have an idea and run with it.
Our preschoolers organically decided, “Let’s work together to build a loooooong tower!” And off they went!
What looks like play is filled with learning: collaboration, communication, problem-solving, early arithmetic, spatial reasoning, and persistence—all while working toward a shared goal.
This is childhood learning at its best: hands-on, joyful, purposeful, and together.

Last week, our students had the opportunity to participate in our Student Council elections! It was wonderful to see them take an active role in our school community, practice leadership, and make their voices heard.
