Saint of the Day
Born in Cartagena, Spain in 534, SAINT LEANDER was Bishop of Seville, but was banished to Constantinople for converting the two sons of the Arian Visigoth King Leovigild to Christianity. Following the death of Leovigild, Leander returned to Seville and the Visigoths then converted from Arianism. Leander died peacefully in 600 and is today honored as a Doctor of the Church for his work in combating Arianism. He is also remembered for introducing the Nicene Creed at Mass.
