Principal's Welcome

Welcome to St. Edward’s Catholic School

As Principal of St. Edward’s Catholic School, it is my pleasure to welcome you! We are a small Catholic school with a great big heart. It is an absolute privilege to nurture children’s spiritual, academic, and social growth each day. We do not take this gift for granted and are committed to strong Academics, meaningful Relationships, and a vibrant Catholic Environment.

We ARE St. Edward’s Catholic School!

Academics:
Our teachers provide daily opportunities to develop a depth of knowledge, encouraging deep thinking and growth in Religion, the Arts, Literacy, Math, and Science. With small class sizes, every child receives the individualized attention they need to grasp the fundamentals with just the right amount of support. Our commitment to top-notch instruction ensures students are consistently prepared for high school academics and that they have a strong foundation for life.

As Principal, I work to evaluate curriculum and instructional practices, cultivate collective staff efficacy, and foster continuous professional growth. The St. Edward’s staff is always learning together in service to our students.

Relationships:
Relationships are the foundation of all we do. Our staff cares deeply for each child and family they are blessed to serve each year. The small acts of care we offer daily leave a lasting impact on our students and help shape their sense of belonging. We believe that nurturing positive, respectful friendships among students is essential to their overall development.

The safety of our students—mind, body, and spirit—is our highest priority. We address disciplinary matters with a balance of grace and accountability, ensuring students are supported in learning from their mistakes while being guided toward meaningful growth.

Our parent community is one of great support and care, striving to be free of gossip and full of integrity. As Principal, I take great pride in building strong, positive relationships with all families. At the heart of our school relationships is the unwavering belief that every family matters—because we are all part of Christ’s love.

Environment:
Christ is the reason for all that we do, and this truth is woven into the fabric of our school environment. Each day begins in prayer, we attend Friday Mass together weekly, and our classrooms are places where faith is both taught and lived. While we are proudly a practicing Catholic school, over 30% of our students come from other faith backgrounds—and we joyfully welcome and support every child and family in our community.

We also celebrate many joyful traditions and events throughout the year, both during and outside of school hours. Students enjoy Blessed Buddy Days, T-Shirt and Popcorn Days, and Special Person’s Day (Grandparents included!). Beyond the school day, our community gathers for local parades, our Summer Swimming Bash, and many other festive occasions.

At St. Edward’s, students are immersed in a culture that nurtures both the heart and the mind. We strive to create a space where every child feels safe, known, and loved.

We hope our website offers a meaningful glimpse into the vibrant community at St. Edward’s. If you are visiting as a guest or prospective family, we hope it piques your interest and reflects the care, commitment, and sense of school family that defines us here in Chillicothe, IL. As we prepare for the 2025–2026 school year, I hope my dedication to high expectations is evident in all that we do. We invite you to contact us to schedule a tour—come see firsthand what makes St. Edward’s such a special place. Great things are ahead!
